New D-19 Tube D.I. /Preamp

Specifications

DI IN: suited for any source with an average level in the –20dBu range, including guitar, bass guitar, low level keyboards, various types of pickups. 1Mohm input impedance.

An unbalanced signal from a high impedance source is amplified 10 dB at the mic/DI output and is transformed into a balanced signal at 150 OHMS. It can be amplified to +4dBu with the GAIN OUT knob at 2 o’clock, output at the LINE OUT connector, balanced, 50 OHMS.

PASS THRU: parallels DI IN.

TUNER: a buffered output meant for using with a tuner. 600-ohm output impedance.

SWITCH 1: up is mic or line source, down is DI source input

SWITCH 2: up is LINE; down is MIC.

SWITCH 3: filter #1. Up is a notch at 11kHz; down is a notch at 6.5kHz. CENTER OFF.

SWITCH 4: filter #2. Up is a notch at 4.2kHz; down is a notch at 2.4kHz. CENTER OFF.

SWITCH 5: BASS TILT, or BT for short. It is a 6 dB per octave filter with its –3dB point at 500 Hz. There is interaction between this filter and the other filters. Use of this filter with one or more of the notch filters results in a small peak at the usually notched frequency, along with the BT’s slope rolling off the high frequencies.

MIC PAD: variable pad for the mic input. Fully clockwise is 0 dB attenuation, fully CCW is –35dB attenuation. It is best to start with the knob fully up when using microphones, and pad only when necessary to do so. S/N is better when getting the most level off the mic at this stage. A 12 o’clock setting is –6dB, and with the GAIN OUT knob at 12 o’clock, one may expect a gain of 34dB.

LINE IN: a level pot for control of the signal from the LINE INPUT connector. This control at 12 o’clock and the GAIN OUT control at 12 o’clock will be unity gain from the LINE IN to the LINE OUT connectors.

NOTES:

  1. All the inputs go through the special tube circuit inside.
  2. The tube operates at high voltage. Please attempt no service inside this unit.
  3. All inputs are capable of using the filter switches.
  4. BOTH outputs are active at the same time.
  5. TWO of the single units may be fastened together and rack ears added for a stereo 1RU unit.
